We had our very first outing in what felt like forever! It was so good to see everyone in the flesh, to safely social distance, and to breathe in the crisp fall air. We had a blast going to Jackson's Scrapyard photographing some amazing beat-up, colourful cars! We could have stayed there all day finding new things to photograph!

The Durham East Photography Club has started up again for the 2021-2022 season! We were hoping we could meet in person but due to the ongoing pandemic, our plans to do that have been put on hold. So, we brought out our laptops, computers, phone/tablets and met online. It was so lovely to see everyone again after being on hiatus over the summer. Here are some of the photos that people have taken over the summer months!
The verdict is in!! We had 13 submissions. The club members voted and an external group of judges (thanks to Russel Styles, Kim McGee, and Kyle James) also voted. The winner of the club members' vote is "Authenticity" by Stephanie Rutherford"! The external judges picked "Grandpa's Hands" by Laura Willems as the winning photo! Congratulations to these two well-deserved winners!!
Our annual end-of-year photo contest is based on "Something you're proud of". The photo taken had to be taken during the 2020-2021 season. We have such amazing entries! The club members will vote and we will also have external judges choose as well! The winner from each group will win a free membership for the upcoming 2021-22 year. These are the fantastic entries:
It has certainly been a different type of year for our photo club and for many others. Due to the pandemic, we've had to do the whole year online! While it was an adjustment, and we have missed seeing each other in real life, there has been some real positives to take away from this! As a result of having to "zoom", this has opened doors to new speakers! We also gone from one meeting a month to two meetings a month, allowing us to have further interactions with each other and to have a photo share for one meeting and a guest speaker for another. Throughout all of this, one thing hasn't changed and it's people's passion for photography! We have thoroughly enjoyed viewing each other's work and seeing everyone's creativity and perspectives!
The last photo share of the month was based on "New Life" and "Intimate Landscape". |
